The BLACKBIRD Group is the off-spring of GIBSON & STROMBERG, one of the largest independent public relations companies in the entertainment business, with offices in Los Angeles and New York. G&S represented some of the all-time leading figures in contemporary music during the 1970’s; The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Pointer Sisters, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Jethro Tull, Steely Dan, Earth Wind & Fire, New Kids on the Block, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Ray Charles, among many others.
In 1994 I moved to Westport, CT, where I started a boutique PR firm, The BLACKBIRD Group, a small boutique public relations agency, representing, among others, R&B music group Boyz II Men, actor Mark Wahlberg, musican Barry White, world cruiserweight boxing champion Bobby Czyz, New Orleans music legend Dr. John, Chuck Negron the former lead singer in Three Dog Night, rap music impresario Jay-Z, jazz music label Blue Thumb Records, actor, and former New Kid on the Block Donnie Wahlberg, The World Wrestling Federation, and New York’s Motown Cafe.
In 1997 I left the PR business to form Jake Records, a contemporary music record label, with Gary Katz, former producer of the legendary music group Steely Dan.
In 1999 I returned to public relations, where I developed a specialization in the representation of high quality substance abuse treatment centers, including the Betty Ford Center, Rancho Mirage, Calif., Hazelden Treatment Center, Center City, Minnesota, A Home Away, Kelowna, British Columbia, Spanish Bay, in the Cayman Islands, Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut, Creative Care in Malibu, CA, La Hacienda Treatment Center in Kerrville, Texas, Prive Swiss Wellness Center, in Essex , Connecticut, Meditox in Florida, Texas and California, Cottonwood de Tucson, Desert Canyon in Sonoma, Arizona, and the Gateway Academy in Wickenburg, Arizona.
